Volunteers are crucial to the mission-centered services of Safe Connections and our fundraising capacity. Diverse opportunities to contribute valuable service are plentiful. We welcome your involvement with Safe Connections and encourage you to fill out our application above.

Answer Calls to our 24-Hour Crisis Helpline

Crisis Helpline volunteers work hand-in-hand with staff members to make sure that no call to our 24-Hour Crisis Helpline goes unanswered. As a Crisis Helpline volunteer, you provide compassionate attention while connecting callers to the most appropriate referrals and resources. Requirements include a screening interview with Safe Connections staff and a 48-hour, multi-session training program. Specifically, this approach builds knowledge, skills and confidence to provide callers with the best possible support. Once the training program has been completed, volunteers must be able to volunteer a minimum of 6 hours a month for one year.

Become a Safe Connections Young Professional

As a member of Safe Connections Young Professionals, you will work on behalf of a cause that impacts the entire St. Louis community–ending domestic violence and sexual assault. Furthermore, you’ll help to raise consciousness and increase funding for mission work by planning and participating in SCYP-hosted initiatives throughout the year. This is an ongoing opportunity for young professionals in our area between 21-39 years of age who want to give back by planning awareness and fundraising events for Safe Connections. This group is made up of some really great folks who are passionate about our cause and find creative ways to engage other young professionals in the St. Louis area. The SCYPs welcome new members throughout the year.

Volunteer for an Event

Our fundraising events are so important to raise crucial funds for the organization.  They’re also a lot of work! We need volunteers to help with everything from decoration decisions, soliciting sponsors, and day-of-event work. Serving on an event planning committee provides many opportunities for contributing to the public awareness and fundraising for Safe Connections. Some committees meet during regular office hours, while others are only in the evenings. We welcome new members throughout the year. Visit the Events page of this site to learn more about the timing and unique features of our special events.

Volunteer for a Group Project

We are looking for small groups of volunteers who are willing to donate 3-4 hours of their time to help our staff help others. Volunteers often help beautify our outdoor spaces with activities such as raking, planting, and hedge-trimming. Scattered help with other projects around the office require little to no training but affect work flow at the agency, such as stuffing envelopes, organizing storage areas, or cleaning. Group projects are scheduled on an individual basis with group leader(s). If you have folks looking for a way to help out in the community, this could be a perfect fit.

Volunteer for a Special Project

We are always grateful for professionals who donate their services to our agency and to our clients. This includes, but is not limited to, massage therapists, hair stylists, dance teachers, lawyers, accountants, information technology specialists, electricians, maintenance managers etc. Special projects are scheduled on an individual basis with the service professional(s). If you have a special skill and you want to give back to your St. Louis community, we welcome your involvement with us.
