We welcome your involvement with Safe Connections and encourage you to fill out our intern application. Please note that all internship opportunities are unpaid.

Internship Application


Clinical Internship

For Graduate Students only

  • Gain skills in co-facilitating psychoeducational support groups for adult and/or adolescent survivors of domestic/sexual violence
  • Gain skills in conducting psycho-social assessments with adult as well as adolescent clients
  • Participate in curriculum review as well as development
  • Potential—per fit and availability—to gain skills in brief crisis counseling with individual clients
  • Crisis Helpline or Court Watch experience required as part of Clinical Internship

Prevention Education Internship

For Graduate Students only

  • Become knowledgeable in the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence
  • Work in schools and alternative settings with teens
  • Gain skills in co-facilitating prevention education workshops such as groups
  • Participate in curriculum review as well as development
  • Potential to combine with Crisis Helpline or Clinical opportunities per program needs and availability

Safe Connections on Campus Internship

For Undergraduate Students only

  • Develop understanding of state and national-level policies to address sexual violence on college campuses
  • Gain skills such as co-facilitating workshops and presentations to promote and advocate the reduction of sexual violence on college campuses.
  • Collaborate with college student groups working on sexual violence response as well as prevention in order to promote tasks such as dialogue, enhanced programming, and review university policy and resources
  • Planning as well as promotion of campus-wide events to raise awareness of sexual violence
  • Participate in curriculum review as well as development

Development and Marketing Internship

Graduate/Undergraduate students may apply

Development interns are crucial to our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Additionally, as a Development and Marketing Intern, you will help with tasks such as:

  • Web site content updates
  • Social media site updates as well as expansion of social media efforts
  • Support for young professionals group
  • Correspondence, mail merges/mailings
  • Media relations as assigned
  • Event planning support

Safe Connections is currently accepting internship applications for Development and Marketing for Fall 2019.

Grants Internship

Graduate/Undergraduate students with an interest in nonprofit grant writing are encouraged to apply.

The Safe Connections Grants Intern will gain and use skills and knowledge essential to prospecting for, applying for, documenting, as well as reporting on grants for nonprofit organizations. Additionally, the Grants Internship is a part-time, unpaid position reporting to the Grants Manager. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Input, update, and manage funder data in Salsa CRM (customer relationship management) database
  • Research, report on, and record grant prospects
  • Assist with reporting and renewal process on new and existing federal, state, and local grants in addition to funding credit distribution
  • Compile organization and program data for grant documents
  • Contribute to department meetings as well as strategic planning
  • Event support
  • Contribute to the Development team with other duties
